The March ATL Challenges are a bit more unique. They are based roughly on the idea of “wabi-sabi”. From a website online:
Wabi-sabi is a beauty of things imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete.
It is the beauty of things modest and humble.
It is the beauty of things unconventional.
Challenge #1: create a page utilizing the idea of wabi-sabi. Idea for doing this:
Create a design that is “imperfect” – Allowing things to be tilted a bit, or not all perfectly lined up is a great way to create a design that is more appealing by looking more organic and natural. Or try distressing items to keep them from looking too perfect. Alternatively, consider breaking the rules of design convention and create something truly unique.
Challenge #2: embrace the idea of wabi-sabi by using a photograph that is either imperfect or unconventional. Just because a photo is not perfect, does not mean that its not worth scrapping. If there is a story there, use the photo and tell it.
